Day 02 - The last movie you watched
Alright, so I’m currently watching Scream 4 (or SCRE4M, as it says on the box) as I write this, and seeing as Harry Potter 5 was corrupted so badly I couldn’t watch it, the last movie I actually watched all the way through was Horrible Bosses.
Day 1: Your favorite movie.
Defending Your Life (1991)
Considering how many movies I’ve seen in my life, it’s surprising I could narrow it down to just one, but on a watching of this movie recently, I realized I love this movie more than most others.
Now, like most people, you’ve probably never heard of this movie. It’s kind of a little-known film from 1991 starring Albert Brooks (who also wrote and directed the movie) and Meryl Streep in a truly enchanting role. Rip Torn is also a significant role in the movie. So, the movie starts with Albert Brooks’ character Daniel, who works in an advertising agency. He is in the midst of a very disappointing birthday when WHUH-OH! ENTER BUS! Well, unfortunately, Daniel, being a human being, cannot withstand bus accidents. In the next scene, we see Daniel being pushed through an other-worldly terminal, on his way to Judgment City, where humans’ lives are analyzed and the decision is made whether they are worthy to move on or if they should be sent back. During the course of his stay, he encounters a woman named Julia (Streep) who seems to enjoy his humor, even in spite (because?) of his self-deprecation.
